Cagnazzi Racing website

To  support a team rebranding effort and attract more sponsorship support, Mooresville-based NHRA Pro Stock drag racing team Cagnazzi Racing hired MMI to design and develop their new website at cagnazziracing.com.  The two-time NHRA Pro Stock Championship winning team needed a site that reflected the caliber and success of the family-owned team.  While simple and functional in its layout, the new website’s design motif reflects the hard-working Italian heritage that the Cagnazzi family is known for.

Kyle Busch and his personal sponsor Electric Visual recently launched the KB1 sunglasses and held a in-store signing at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas during the NASCAR race weekend.  The Hard Rock retail store featured a Kyle Busch KB1 custom window display and fans started lining up four hours before the signing.  Rowdy showed up right on time with a smile on his face and didn’t bat an eye at signing autographs for 375 people.   Product description from Electric: Come in 1st Place with the new “Kyle Busch” signature shade from Electric. Built for Speed, this unique hard lined frame is designed especially for NASCAR speed demon Kyle “Rowdy” Busch. Young, edgy, and controversial, Electric and KB share the same aggressive traits. 2nd Place is the first loser, so rock the new KB1 and go straight to Victory Lane!

MMI recently installed a SimCraft racing simulator in MMI’s driver’s lounge, known officially as the “Smoke Lounge.”  The Apex sc830 Professional Racing Simulator unit is outfitted with iRacing software to simulate real-like racing conditions and motions.  The unit has already caught the curiosity of several MMI clients who have hopped on board for fun or prepare for an upcoming test or race, including 2010 Daytona 500 Champion Jamie McMurray.  The unit is especially helpful to the younger development drivers that lack the track time at certain race tracks, some of which they have never visited before.  It also provides the more experienced driver and their engineers with valuable set-up information for specific tracks.  New track records are sure to follow.

Scott is competing for the 2010 Nationwide Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year award after a very successful 2009 campaign on the Truck series that netted him one win, seven top-5’s and 13 top-10 finishes.

Fan wins LifeLock $1 Million Payout

Promotion Winners with LifeLock CEO Todd Davis

NASCAR fan Donna Musgrave became the newest millionaire last Saturday night when Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon crossed the finish line in first and second place respectively at the Chicagoland Speedway. Musgrave is the winner of LifeLock’s “Lock In 2 Win” sweepstakes, a promotion allowing fans to select the top two winners of the LifeLock 400 race at Michigan International Speedway on June 14 with the same drivers finishing first and second or second and first in Saturday night’s LifeLock.com 400 in Chicago.

MMI concepted and developed the consumer promotion for LifeLock. The odds for Gordon and Martin to repeat as 1-2 at Chicagoland were 1 in 815,409.

When asked by NASCAR media immediately following the race what plans they had for the million, “We’re going to have to think about it. We are so used to working and we’re not people that can sit still. Of course we have five kids and already have six voicemails,” said Donna.

“Man, that’s what I’m talking about LifeLock, this was really special,” said race winner Mark Martin after congratulating the Musgraves in Victory Lane.

Both Martin and Gordon finished in the same order in the LifeLock 400 in June at Michigan International Speedway.

“We tried to give the Musgrave family a good experience and got to know them well this weekend,” said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. “The last 18 laps we were together, tears started flowing from everyone at LifeLock. Being with them just made our sponsorship that much more special.”

Steel Palace Classic

2009 event poster

2009 event poster

Kasey Kahne and MMI are working together to promote the return of USAC National Championship Racing to historic Oswego Speedway in upstate New York. Oswego used to be nicknamed the Steel Palace for its steel railings that lined the track, so we picked up on that theme and entitled the event The Kasey Kahne Steel Palace Classic. The overall look and feel is 1960s era as the last time USAC raced there was in 1968. In fact, Mario Andretti won a USAC Sprint Car race in 1967 at Oswego. The 2009 event will feature the high-powered Silver Crown long-wheelbase cars. Ryan Newman, a former Silver Crown series champion (1999) is planning to run in the Steel Palace Classic, which is scheduled for August 6.

2009 Battle at the Grove logo

2009 Battle at the Grove logo

Kasey Kahne hosts a charity short track race or two every year to raise money for the Kasey Kahne Foundation and MMI creates the graphics and helps organize and promote the event. This year’s event was just announced on June 30th and is taking place again at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. on August 6th. Since the area is in the heart of Civil War country (Gettysburg is nearby), we went with a Civil War-esque theme. Hence the Battle at the Grove name and 1860’s era war logo. Go to the Battle of the Grove website for event details. And go to the event to help us raise funds for great causes.

CURB Museum Tour

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Johnny Sauter gives CURB Records artist Rodney Atkins a personal tour of the CURB  Museum for Music and Motorsports in Kannapolis, NC (outside of Charlotte).  Sauter races the No. 13 Truck in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, which CURB Records founder Mike Curb is part-owner. Curb has a long history in motorsports as you can see in the video and has also has a long association with MMI and the Agajanian family dating back several decades ago in the Southern California racing scene.  Over the years Curb-Agajanian alliance has operated teams that have raced in the Indianapolis 500 and the NASCAR Busch Series among other circuits.  MMI worked with CURB to design the Rodney Atkins designed truck in the video and helped connect Johnny with Rodney for this segment that aired on Speed TV during the Michigan race broadcast.
