Rowdy Pulls Off the Triple
Tuesday, August 24th, 2010Rowdy R/C All Stars
Friday, May 28th, 2010MMI worked with Kyle Busch and NOS Energy Drink to put on a special R/C (radio-control) racing event at Charlotte Motor Speedway entitled Rowdy R/C All Stars presented by NOS Energy Drink. Busch, aka Rowdy, invited out some of his NASCAR colleagues to join him and some of the top R/C racers in America from Team Associated. Joining Busch were Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Speed, Michael McDowell, TJ Bell, Matt DiBenedetto, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Bobby Labonte and NASCAR crew chief, Dave Rogers. Busch took the Celebrity class victory by easily maneuvering his NOS-sponsored 1:10 scale No. 18 Team Associated R/C truck through the 50 ft. by 100 ft. dirt and asphalt off-road track that featured double jumps, hairpin turns, moguls, and a steep dirt berm that led into a 2 ft. high kicker jump. Busch turned his short course electric truck just like the professionals, making minimal mistakes, to out-run runner-up Scott Speed. He later tested his skills against one of the best in the world, Team Associated driver Ryan Maifield, driving a 1:8 scale nitro buggy in the pro demonstration race.

SimCraft Racing Simulation
Thursday, February 25th, 2010MMI recently installed a SimCraft racing simulator in MMI’s driver’s lounge, known officially as the “Smoke Lounge.” The Apex sc830 Professional Racing Simulator unit is outfitted with iRacing software to simulate real-like racing conditions and motions. The unit has already caught the curiosity of several MMI clients who have hopped on board for fun or prepare for an upcoming test or race, including 2010 Daytona 500 Champion Jamie McMurray. The unit is especially helpful to the younger development drivers that lack the track time at certain race tracks, some of which they have never visited before. It also provides the more experienced driver and their engineers with valuable set-up information for specific tracks. New track records are sure to follow.

Jamie McMurray found a new ride for 2010 and quickly found himself in Victory Lane at NASCAR’s biggest race — the Daytona 500 — celebrating with car owner Chip Ganassi and Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. McMurray thanked them and fellow car owner Felix Sabates for bringing Jamie on board to pilot the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet for Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing this season after four years with Roush-Fenway Racing. McMurray’s fourth career Sprint Cup victory marked his third win on a superspeedway and puts him on top in the 2010 Race for the Chase. Fighting back tears of joy at times, Jamie spent several hours in post-race media obligations Sunday night at the track and then boarded a NASCAR plane on Monday morning to do a media tour in New York City. Sometime on Monday he plans to grab a Big Mac at McDonald’s as promised in his Victory Lane celebration.
